The Communal Kitchen

Cooking is one of those things you sometimes have to give up while traveling. But not at Ocean Island!

Every dorm and guest room around here is equipped with its own fridge, and some with their own bathrooms. But when you really want to get your cooking on, our kitchen is here for you.

Our lovely, modern full service kitchen has remarkable amenities worthy of making June Cleaver jealous. We have two gas stoves, two ovens, two microwaves, an array of dishes, cups, mugs, pots and pans as well as a plethora of utensils. Perhaps one of the highlights of the kitchen for first time users is the clear glass, enormous refrigerator perfect for storing your every need.

Whether it’s traditional Pakistani food, hearty Canadian pea soup or perplexing vegan specialties, whatever you like to cook from Kraft Dinner to Cous Cous, our full-featured kitchen makes it easy. Plus it's all about teaming up on big meals with other travelers!

The kitchen is cleaned twice daily. This ensures that everything you need is always clean and at your fingertips. However, OI does not have a dishwasher and so we ask guests to please be courteous and clean up when they’re done cooking their masterpieces.
