Shine
This is where all the cool kids hang out. So this is probably where you’ll be. This club dishes out everything from electro disco, to dancehall to reggae to 80’s to hiphop to funk to post punk to indie to I don’t know what. Anyway, it’s fun.
364 Water St. (604) 408-4321.
Celebrities
They call it a gay club but on most nights you’ll find a mix of gays and straights dancing, laughing and just generally having a good time .
1022 Davie St. (604) 681-6180.
Richard’s on Richards
Also called Dick’s on Dicks, this is a really popular show venue -- one of my favourites, but as a nightclub I don’t feel it as much.
1036 Richards St. (604) 688-1099.
The Cambie
Kinda grimy, but pretty fun. Often called “a Vancouver classic” the Cambie has cheap drinks and food. It’s full of university kids and travellers, and bikers, and well...everybody .
300 Cambie St. 604-684-6466.
The Blarneystone
Irish pub and bar. The lines get really long on Fridays and Saturdays so come early. There’s a house band that plays folk and rock songs, and the dancing is crazy, so watch out. The crowd is lively and enthusiastic so I would recommend comfortable clothes, close toe shoes, and if possible, a group of friends to keep you from getting trampled by someone doing a jig.
216 Carrall St. 604-687-4322.
The Brickyard
A fun show venue, they also have pool tables and pretty good drink specials and a funny crowd consisting of bikers, university kids and others.
315 Carrall St. 604-685-3922.
The Picadilly Pub
“The Pic” is one of the last live music venues downtown. Sometimes there are cover specials for students and musicians.

Granville Island Brewery
Open since 1984 and voted best Vancouver microbrewery for eight years running by the Vancouver Courier. If you like beer you might want to take a tour (and some samples) at 12pm, 2pm, or 4pm. tours cost $9.75 or just stop by and buy something from the store.
