Whatever music you're into, you'll find it represented in Victoria to some degree. But the more strange your tastes, the fewer and farther between the events will be, so you have to get organized! The LiveVictoria web site is the glue that holds Victoria's rock & roll community together, so we recommend starting here for any information about rock shows in Victoria.
They also have info on electronic shows, and some theatrical stuff but it's 90% rock. Besides having the most comprehensive show listings of any site in Victoria, the site is home to some of the city's most active user forums, where you can find cheap instruments and equipment, find musicians to join your band and connect with other bands.

Exactly what it sounds - Rave Victoria provides party listings, safety advice and forums for hooking up with other ravers! PLUR!
Air Traffic - IDM, Ambient & Abstract Electronica & Acoustic music
More connected with the indie rock scene than the rave scene. A handful of mostly-local electronic composers and signer-songwriters have been gathered together by A Great White Bird, who organizes events and online releases to support the scene.
Monday Magazine - Event listings of all types
Monday is a free, weekly newspaper that covers Victoria's social events (movies, live shows, art exhibitions etc.) It's as good a guide as you'll find in paper form. Pick it up right here at the hostel or at several cafes and shops downtown, or you can check out their site....
