What do I get with my room/suite?
- Furniture—one or more beds, bed sheets, a lamp, a fan and refrigerator. Some have tables & chairs, shelving, lockers, closets, sinks and cupboards. All rooms have a fridge.
- Most rooms have hardwood floors and are stylishly decorated.
- Heat and hot water (at the Backpacker’s Inn).
- At the Backpacker’s Inn some rooms have views of the Sooke Hills, Victoria's historic cityscape, our parking lot, the trees outside and some have no windows (these have mechanical ventilation bringing in fresh air from the roof!)
- Free wireless internet.
- The Suites are custom designed and decorated with a full kitchen, bathroom and a queen-size bed. Included is: free wireless internet, cable TV, free local phone calls, a large back yard and deck, and various other amenities. Hydro is not included in the rental rate.

When can I rent these rooms/suites?
Most rooms are month-long rooms, which are available from the 1st until the last day of the month. Two week rooms are available from either the 1st or from the middle to the end of the month. Even if we don't have anything available for half a month, you could choose to rent any of the rooms available for only half the month, for only 75% of the total price.
Suites are month-long as well, however, these cannot be rented for less than the time advertised.
How long can I stay in a special discounted room/suite?
If you decide to stay on for another month, we require you to sign another rental agreement for that month to secure your room. Our rooms are available on a month-to-month basis. Suites are on the same basis, although with these you can commit for a number of months up front.
How much is the deposit?
$250 for most month-long room and $100 for 2-week rooms and the Mini Single Rooms at the Backpacker’s Inn. There’s also a $10 key deposit required at the Inn. At the Suites, the deposit is half the rent.
When do I get my deposit(s) back?
The key deposit is returned to you in cash when you return them to the Front Desk on your move-out date. Security deposits are ready to pick up around the 3rd or 18th of the month, as a cheque.
How much does it cost for extra people in my room?
Rates are advertised for one person. Add $50 for a 2nd person for a full month, or $30 for a half-month. Add$100 for a 3rd person for a full month, or $60 for a half-month. One and two person rates are the same at the Suites. Add a 3rd person for extra $50 a month.
Do you accept pets?
We do at the Suites for a fee, but sorry, no pets at the Backpacker’s Inn. Click here for our pet policy.
How do I go about renting a room/suite?
- Choose a room/suite that meets your needs and strikes your fancy. You can tour via our web site or by dropping by. We would rather give you a personal tour so we can find what best suits you. To view the Suites, you’ll need to make an appointment with the office.
- Fill out an application form from the Front Desk. If you cannot drop by for this, contact us and we'll ask you for a few details.
- Once you’ve been approved, let our office staff know which room/suite you have decided on.
- Read and sign our Guest Agreement. If you can’t come in to do this, we can fax you a copy to fill out and return to us.
- Pay the deposit to secure your room/suite. Your room is not reserved until you've done this.
- On your Move In date at the Inn, you will need to pay rent and key deposit, before you Move In. A month before moving in to the Suites, half the rent is due and the other half on the Move In date.

Even though we’ve tried to compile the most detailed and accurate list possible of all the fantastic features of OI, and will continue to update the site with new and current information, you should really get a tour - drop whatever you're doing, come down and take a look!
Visit us at 791 Pandora Ave (at the corner of Pandora and Blanshard downtown). You can get a guided tour and all the nitty gritty details, ideally between 11am-6pm any day (though we are open 24 hours)
